I'm very pleased with this product. I used it to make a strawberry-almond milk pie filling, and this agar agar gave it a very good consistency, robust, but soft, and a lot better than gelatin. Definitely I'll buy more!
Japanese Agar as Gelatin Substitute

I am not vegan. However, due to concern over BSE, I have eliminated beef products from my diet for 10 years. This included gelatin-based goods. I discovered this recently looking through a vegan recipe book. This is such a great substitute for gelatin (puddings, jello-like desserts, marshmallows etc), I can't believe it is not more commonly used in the US. I prefer it over fish gelatin. It is also made in Japan, not China.
