great for sleep,mild depression

due to various issues, I've spent decades searching for the perfect sleep. I've tried nearly everything. Most nutrients did very little, most medications left me feeling like a drugged-out zombie. That's not how I want to live, so I kept searching, until I stumbled onto this (in an Iherb review, no less): each evening at bedtime I take one teaspoon of glycine powder, a half-teaspoon of taurine powder, and a quarter teaspoon of Gaba powder. I stir these into lukewarm water. They mix easily and completely, and the taste is mildly sweet. I take tryptophan and magnesium capsules at the same time. Within minutes a gentle sleep blanket comes over me. I then sleep 7-8 uninterrupted hours, and wake up refreshed and feeling great. My wife, who has always been a very light sleeper, and would be awakened byu the slightest noise, reports that she sleeps more deeply and wakes up much less often. This combination really works! I believe that nutritional supplements saved my life. I've tried a lot of products, and I know what works and what doesn't. My reviews are honest, straighforward, and based on my experience. Good for sleep and or mood support

Tryptophan is a precursor (building block) to 5-HTP which in turn is a precursor to the neurotransmitter serotonin. Serotonin is needed to make the sleep hormone melatonin. It helps to understand this relationship when you use these products. Some people use this for mood support and others use it to help with sleep. Tryptophan is found in turkey and chicken and can make you sleepy when you eat a lot of it. 5-HTP is a less costly product but it does not work for everyone. Try 5 HTP before using tryptophan and if it is not effective then give Tryptophan a try. Typical doses for Tryptophan are .5 to 2 grams. This is an amino acid and you will get the best results when taken on an empty stomach. Some people find that taking some vitamin B6 and or B3 with this can help it work better as they is a cofactors in the synthesis of serotonin and melatonin. If you take any mediation for depression you want to clear this with your health care provider first I have used NOW products for years and believe they have good quality products and they hold to GMP standards. They are made in the USA and they keep their pricing reasonable. I will add that some people believe Tryptophan is dangerous because it was taken off the market years ago for causing serious problems and even death. That was due to a contaminated batch of tryptophan that came from a Japanese manufacturer. It was the contamination that hurt people, NOT the tryptophan. Very good supplement

I used to use 5-htp for mild depression, low serotonin came on with advancing years. It worked great but gave me pretty bad lower GI pain. When L-tryptophan was re-released I tried it instead and what I got was a more soothing evening out of my mood. It wasn't as "energetic" as the 5HTP but more mellow and happy. Anyway, it's done wonders for my mental health. Without it I kind of "fall off the wagon". LOL

давно чувствую себя как выжатый лимон,даже с утра(((искала препараты для лечения хронической усталости,и как-то случайно наткнулась на статью про L- триптофан....почитала отзывы и решила заказать,и о чудо!!!!!!стала спать спокойно,вставать легче и меньше хочется есть,в том числе забываешь о сладком)))))я очень довольна,рекомендую))))

Help with sleep without drugs

I have been using L-tryptophan for sleep for years. And, what's nice about it is that I don't have a drug hangover in the morning. tryptophan is a precursor to serotonin so I also like to think that I am getting the added benefit of some mood enhancement. For sleep, I take 2 capsules about 2 hours before I want to be asleep. Works great for me!

Эффект почувствовала с первых дней приёма. Исчезла тревожность, плаксивость, появился интерес к жизни. Ушла раздражительность. До приёма заводилась от всяких мелочей. Качество сна улучшилось, пропали внезапные утренние пробуждение. Отличная вещь. Лучше чем в других фирмах

Maybe a good product but not for me

Firstly I bought this product to help me relax and also because the description states “L-Tryptophan is an essential amino acid important in human nutrition for the synthesis of melatonin and serotonin, hormones regulating mood and stress response” I tried one tablet the first night, I had broken sleep and nightmares (which I never usually have) I felt tired and lethargic the next day and was very highly strung, my mood was all over the place from being angry and stressed to crying. Two weeks later I tried a ¼ of the capsule (splitting the powder into another four empty capsules) so not to have such a big dosage, I had the same reaction as above being angry and very emotional, I had to call my mother to help me focus and try to calm down, I was on edge after both episodes for a few days after taking this product. I was very disappointed with L-Tryptophan as I thought it was going to help me with being anxious, not make me worse to the point where I felt I had lost control. I am sure it does help many people, but as we are all different, it didn’t help me but made my situation worse. I also love the NOW foods brand, don’t get me wrong, nearly all my other vitamins are from NOW as they do have a fantastic pure products and I would be lost without the Magnesium Citrate powder in particular and also purchase the C-1000, 250 Tablets and their Amino-9 Essentials Powder.

L-Tryptophan helps

I use L-Tryptophan to help with my sense of well-being. It can calm me, relax me, and even improve the quality of my sleep. Regular use is important! This is pure stuff. Works better than a couple of other brands I've used in the past

У меня фибромиалгия, и из-за неё состояние депрессии и хронической усталости, так вот именно триптофан классно улучшает настроение и выводит из ступора, только благодаря ему уже больше года обхожусь без антидепрессантов. Моя ревматолог тоже подтвердила, что триптофан - природный антидепрессант.

Очень классная вещь! Нашла его тут случайно и очень рада! Действует и как успокоительное и как для поднятия настроения. Очень помог при сильном стрессе, стало как то всё равно на происходящее. Всё во круг кипит, а мне всё ровно и спокойно. Пью и днём иногда и на ночь с мелатонином, что бы быстрее уснуть. Буду заказывать ещё.
